The three uniforms from the Ray family are unique to this collection as the only uniforms from three generations of the same family contained here. Charles Ray senior served in World War I, Charles Ray junior in World War 2, and Howard Ray in the Vietnam War. A member of the Marine Corps, Charles Ray junior flew F4U Corsairs – Whistling Death – during the second World War. Howard Ray, also a Marine, was wounded in action during conflict in Vietnam in 1968. The Ray family’s military heritage dates back to the Civil War.
